I’m currently taking an introductory Art Class and I thought I would share with you some of the things we have been doing in my class.
We work mainly with charcoal which can get extremely frustrating, but I think I am finally getting the hang of it. Lately we have been working on 1-point perspective and texture, and we have even been given the opportunity to work on class collaboration pieces, which the large portrait of Van Gogh is.
I hope you enjoy these art pieces and I hope it gets you inspired to go embark in some creative adventures.

When it comes to my outfit today, I really have gotten a case of the blues. Blue jeans, vest and turtleneck with my lime green flats. I was taking inspiration from Jay McCaroll’s final collection on Project Runway Season 1 when he did his entire collection in different monochromatic colors. I hope you like the look!

When I saw Whitney, I was instantly jealous of her wide leg, trouser jeans she got from Old Navy. They looked so good on her. I even made a trip especially to Old Navy so I could find them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find them there I think I was just looking in the wrong section because another one of my friends went a coupe days later and found them.
I love Whitney’s outfit here. I think it really characterizes Oregon style: scarfs, sweaters, and jeans. The staples of every individual who lives in the northern parts of the U.S. She really added her own personal twist to this look also. Even if the pieces are pretty basic there are still great ways to spice them up and make your own. Kudos for Whitney for putting together this winning look!

I decided to try out this new trend it seems that everyone has been wearing lately. Shorts with tights. I really liked the overall look and I had tons of fun with this little photo shoot. I hope I give you good ideas on remixing your own wardrobe.
Yesterday I got the latest edition of In Style in the mail. I have been in somewhat of a style rut, so I was super excited to get it and hopefully get some style inspiration. Do not fear! It served its purpose very well. I got tons of new ideas of how to mix and match my wardrobe so hopefully there will be much more outfit posts in the near future, that is if I can find someone who is willing to snap photos of me.

I have noticed that many of you really loved my last Fashion Illustration post on Paper Fashion, so I decided to wet your pallets once again with a new fashion illustrator’s blog.
Brooke over at Fabulous Doodles is extremely talented in Fashion Illustrations. I ran across her blog via google and I am totally in love with her work! She even has an etsy store in case you are in so much love with her work that you want to purchase some for your own home!

This Sex in the City illustration is to die for. You can totally tell it was supposed to be Miranda, Carrie, Samantha and Charlotte. She captured their individual styles to a T!

For those of you who are unaware of who Patti Palmer is, let me inform you.
Patti Palmer is an incredibly gifted entrepreneur who specifically focuses on home sewing and fitting patterns for different body sizes. She has produced multiple books and informational videos regarding these topics under her own producing company of Palmer/Plesch. She even creates patterns for McCalls Pattern Company!
I’m sure all you other home sewers out there have seen her patterns or even books floating around your local Joann Fabrics or other specialty sewing store. You may have even caught her daughter’s new line of patterns being produced by McCalls Pattern Company!

I was so pleased to hear that she was coming to Oregon State to give a lecture and even have a dinner with a smaller group of students so she could talk about her career and answer questions to us aspiring entrepeneur and design students. I was lucky enough to be able to attend both of these events and got the opportunity to hear her amazing story. She has definitely inspired me to go out there and find that perfect dream job for myself. This woman is definitely living the dream, I only hope I can look back and be as happy with my career as her thirty years from now!
Thank you Patti Palmer for such an inspiring and informative lecture and dinner.
